Celebrating 52 Years!

Welcome to LAGS

The Lunenburg Art Gallery Society was founded in 1972 under the auspices of the Heritage Society, to provide a home for a paintings by local artist, Earl Bailly. LAGS has since evolved into an independent society with over 150 members and our Lincoln Street gallery is a popular destination.

Defiance: Women (re)Claiming Spaces

Reception Saturday, November 2nd from 6pm-8pm. A dynamic and thought-provoking art show featuring two distinct yet complementary voices in contemporary art: Rebecca Fisk and Jill Cooper. They deliver a compelling message about women reclaiming their rightful places in a world that has long been shaped by patriarchal and racist systems.

Together, Fisk and Cooper provide a powerful visual narrative that illuminates the resilience of women—both in facing and overcoming societal constraints. While their artistic styles differ, both artists address the urgent need for women to reclaim and redefine spaces that have been historically male or racist, with a determination that speaks to universal experiences of womanhood and the ongoing struggle for equity and justice.

This groundbreaking exhibition will challenge perceptions, provoke critical thought, and inspire conversations about the power of women who defy societal norms and reclaim their spaces.

Open: Friday 3pm - 8pm, Saturday 10am - 8pm, Sunday 11am - 4pm

November 5 - 9

The exhibition will feature dozens of vibrant textile art quilts as well as smaller framed works, art cards, prints, jewelry and sculptural objects. This will be TAC’s fifth show.
