Welcome to the Lunenburg Art Gallery Society!
We are a community art organization.
Our mandate is to present fine art to Lunenburg town and surrounding area in Nova Scotia.
We’ve been exhibiting art by amateurs and professionals from Lunenburg County and across Canada and the United States for decades. We have an admirable reputation as a focus of cultural life in our UNESCO Heritage Town of approximately 2800 people.
We were founded in 1972 under the auspices of the Heritage Society, initially to provide a home and display area for a collection of paintings by the noted artist, Earl Bailly.
LAGS has evolved into an independent non-profit society with approximately 150 members.
Our bright Lincoln Street gallery is open March to October. It's a popular art destination.
We also produce a popular plein air event, Paint Lunenburg Art Festival, which has attracted a growing number of artists and buyers since 2000. In 2020 it’s on Saturday and Sunday, July 18-19.
Visitors are thrilled with the diversity and quality of the art available in our Gallery, at Paint Sea on Site, and in our other programs.
