Celebrating 52 Years! 

Welcome to LAGS

The Lunenburg Art Gallery Society was founded in 1972 under the auspices of the Heritage Society, to provide a home for a paintings by local artist, Earl Bailly. LAGS has since evolved into an independent society with over 150 members and our Lincoln Street gallery is a popular destination.

The Art of Our Community

Everyone is Welcome

We welcome artists with every level of skill and experience. You don't even have to be an artist! All you have to do is join. 

​

In 2024 we will mount a new exhibition on the first Friday of every month, April - October.  For an annual membership fee of $40 ($20 for students) every member can participate in each of these shows.

 

We are a volunteer-run gallery and we encourage all members to donate time and skills if possible. Please note there is a 40% commission on all sales of artwork.

June thru October

First Fridays Art Walk

Mark your calendars, First Fridays are back! All summer, participating galleries, shops and studios stay open late for a special evening. Use the Lunenburg Art Map for a self-guided tour, stroll through our heritage town, meet the artists, enjoy local art and maybe a few light refreshments. Most spots open at 5pm when street parking is free.

September 6 - 28

Second Chances

Previously exhibited work that deserves to be seen again. Opening reception Friday, September 6th from 5pm onwards. Gallery hours are Wednesdays thru Sundays from 11am-4pm, Mondays and Tuesdays by chance or appointment. 

Each month, a different artist fills our bookshelves with a collection of Small Stuff. September's Small Stuff will be lobster rope baskets by Joey Carter.

Intake is Sunday, September 1st and Monday, September 2nd, 1-4pm. Artists must register their artwork before Friday, August 30th.

October 4 - 26

Figuratively Speaking

Our final member show of the season will be portraits, figure drawing, landscapes with people. Artwork intake is Sunday, Sept. 29 & Monday Sept. 30, both days from 1-4pm. Our opening reception will be Friday, October 4th from 5pm onwards, after that our hours are Wendesday thru Sunday from 11-4, Mondays and Tuesdays by chance or appointment.

October's Small Stuff artist will be Bill Gimby, Rock and Driftwood Sculptures.

Rent the Gallery

Our beautiful gallery space is available to rent for solo shows, group shows and popup markets. If you're interested in renting the gallery during the off-season, click here for more information. There are still a few spots available!
