The Art of our Community
Welcome to the LAGS
The Lunenburg Art Gallery Society was founded in 1972 under the auspices of the Heritage Society, initially to provide a home and display area for a collection of paintings by noted local artist, Earl Bailly. LAGS has since evolved into an independent non-profit society with approximately 150 members and our bright Lincoln Street gallery is a popular art destination. Open March to October, visitors are thrilled with the diversity and quality of the art available in our Gallery, at PLAF, and in our other programs.
Our mandate is to present fine art to the Lunenburg and the surrounding area.
About Our Gallery
Everyone is Welcome
We welcome artists with every level of skill and experience. You don't even have to be an artist! All you have to do is join.
In 2021 we will mount a new Member Exhibition on the first Friday of every month, April - October. For an annual membership fee of $40 ($20 for students) every member can participate in each of these shows.
We are a volunteer-run gallery and we encourage all members to donate time and skills if possible. Please note there is a 40% commission on all sales of artwork.
Once again, our season opens with this popular event featuring artwork by local junior high/high school students. Participating schools include Parkview Education Centre, Forest Heights Community School, Bluenose Academy and New Germany Rural High School (additional schools TBD). The gallery will be open Thursdays thru Sundays (and everyday during March Break) from noon till 5.
Highlights will be posted daily on Instagram (@lunenburgartsociety).
Please note that due to COVID-19 there will no opening reception this year.

The Lunenburg Art Society presents "Waterworks on Paper - An Exhibition of Print"
This exhibition of original prints is the culmination of an exchange project involving 11 printmakers from each of these two printmaking studios. Basing their work on the theme 'Water', and using diverse techniques, the artists created a matrix or plate and ran 24 identical prints.
When collated the result was 24 collections of unique prints.
Please note that due to COVID there will no opening reception this year.
After the first very successful FOOT SHOW in 2019, we will once again mount this exhibit of artworks almost completely 12 inches by 12 inches. The 2019 show had over 75 artists and we're hoping to exceed that in 2021.
