Artist's StatementCharmaine Porter was born in 1951 in Hubbards, Nova Scotia and studied Fine Art at the Alberta College of Art and Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.
She travels extensively and has worked abroad in England, Japan and Mexico. Her passion for painting in oil was reawakened while teaching in Japan, where she began exploring the emotion of colour. Charmaine works from her studio at Bayswater Beach in Nova Scotia and from several locations in Mexico.
Motivated by nature’s organic beauty, the present work journeys into the territory of the physical and psychological landscape we inhabit. This inner and outer terrain defines the tapestry that becomes our life.
