Paint Sea on Site is an Annual EventEvery summer (July 26 and 27, 2008), the Lunenburg Art Gallery hosts a wet paint sale - Paint Sea on Site. As many as 60 artists converge on Lunenburg for a two day painting extravaganza. The artists set up their easels all over town and the surrounding area. PSOS is a wonderful experience for the public to observe artists at work and to have the chance to buy work they've been watching the artist do. The artwork produced each day is sold in a silent auction. Some buyers have been known to follow a runner carrying a favoured work back to the fire hall... the bidding gets pretty intense sometimes. Proceeds from each painting are split between the artist and the Gallery. The silent auction is at the Lunenburg Firehall, Saturday and Sunday. You may pay the "take-away" price up until 3:30pm. All bidding ENDS at 4:30pm each day.

The Lunenburg Art Gallery, for the past twenty years, has worked with teachers to display Lunenburg County student art work each year in a special exhibition. For the third year, students from grades 6 to 9 will take part in Paint Sea on Site. This annual fund raising event, in its 9th year, has over 60 artists setting up and painting throughout the town. In a town that rivals Santa Fe’s reputation for having the most people involved in art, this student event can only bring a vitality that will enhance the already established art community in the town. |
