Thirty-nine years ago, the Lunenburg Art Gallery had its early beginnings showing the extraordinary artwork of the late mouthpainter, Earl Bailly. We are now honoured to be showcasing "Bold Strokes - Adventures in Paint" - An Earl Bailly Retrospective Show and Sale. This exhibition of 39 of Earl's works (various media) will be on display from September 27th - October 30th, 2011. The Opening Reception will be Tuesday, September 27th at 5:00pm.
In addition to being a mouthpainter, Earl was also a printmaker. On display will be several of his original linocut blocks and some prints made from those will be for sale. Hank Middleton will perform his song about Earl "I Gotta Swing" and refreshments will be served.
On the following evening, Wednesday, September 28th, well known local artist and performer, Ciel Duke, will give her talk about Earl Bailly at the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic - 3rd Floor Theatre at 7pm. A not to be missed performance! All donations are welcomed.
The artwork in this exhibition is brought to us by Suzanne and Ron Bailly, daughter and son of the late Don Bailly, brother of Earl. Don worked tirelessly helping promote his brother's work and also raised a family.
