Artist Profile

Linda Elaine Oickle

Media: acrylic, mixed media

Linda was born in Blockhouse, and now lives on the shores of Lake Mush-a-Mush, on Nova Scotia's South Shore. She always loved to draw and from the time she could hold a crayon, she doodled on everything. During her high school years she won several art awards, but realizing she did not have the means to attend art school, she gave up her dream of becoming an artist. Thirty-five years later, in 2003, she took up her pencils once again, and reawakened her love of art.

After being encouraged by her daughter to try printmaking, Linda attended workshops with Ed Porter, the Mahone Bay Printmakers Group, and Bob Hainstock. She was bitten with the printing bug and hasn't looked back.

Linda's inspiration comes from her surroundings; the forests, waters, communities and people of Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia.
