A NSCAD foundation year and expert instruction and encouragement by her favourite artist, Ruth Wilton, started Jane Whitfield Smith on a quest to satisfy her "artistic itch". An active member of the ShoreLine Gallery, the Lunenburg Gallery and the LaHave Portrait Group, Jane joined her carver husband Jim in a successful two-month show at the Black Duck Gallery in 2002. Her works hang in private collections in the United States, most Canadian provinces, Bermuda, Europe and Japan.
